Charities Benefit as Over 500 Runners Complete Folkestone Half Marathon

Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon celebrated its 10th anniversary on Sunday 27 September by providing special commemorative medals for the 560 runners who completed the race. Not only was it a great day for runners of all standards, who came from all over the region, many thousands of pounds were raised for various charities, the main beneficiary this year being Kent MS Therapy Centre.

Race Director Ray Johnson said: “It was a great day for Folkestone and the town should be really proud of the event and the profile it affords the town. I’m also grateful for the support from a number of local organisations who help make sure this event remains one of the most popular half marathons in the south east. We have now achieved over £290,000 for good causes since the race started in 2006.”

The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust has been a regular supporter for a number of years by making a donation towards costs of staging the event.

Next year’s race will be on Sunday 25th September 2016. Further information is available at www.folkestonerotary.org
