Villagers Welcome New Facilities at Evington Hall

Published on November 7th, 2016

A packed Evington Hall in Hastingleigh welcomed Sir Charles Jessel to mark the completion of upgrades to the hall’s amenities at one of the community’s regular coffee mornings. Sir Charles was a founding trustee of the charity that runs the hall, and a member of the original team that helped raised funds, build and extend it in the 1950s and 1960s to cater for a growing population. The hall remains an ever important hub of the community, especially since the village no longer has a shop, and it hosts a wide range of events and activities. The new amenities include wifi, improved kitchen equipment and enhanced toilets with facilities for people with disabilities.

The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust made a contribution of £1500 towards the project, which was also supported by parish, district and county councils.
