This community festival was established to raise awareness of the importance of the act of Remembrance amongst young people in the Shepway district and to raise funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The festival is staged in November each year, and is organised by and involving local young people, with a format based on the annual event staged at the Royal Albert Hall. Typically it includes military music performed by youth bands, including the Sea Cadets and Air Training Corps, gymnastic and dance displays by local groups and schools and a parade of standards.

In each of the years 2010 -2015, the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust has made a donation towards the costs of staging the event, held at The Leas Cliff Hall. Since 2010 over £15,000 has been raised for the RBL’s Poppy Appeal. Images courtesy of The Hot Stuff Photography Group.
